Obituary of Jeffrey Alexander Robert Wilson
Wilson, Jeffrey Alexander Robert
November 18, 1965 – March 20, 2018
Jeff died at home in Horning’s Mills, Ontario, on March 20 with Sarah, Alex, and Theo by his side, looking out at the view he has loved for over 20 years.
Jeff was the much loved husband, partner, and best friend of Sarah Harrison for 32 years, and the very proud father of Alex and Theo. He was born in Duncan, BC, to Doris and Robert (2015), the youngest brother of Rick (Jill, Allie & Lucas), Sylvia (2012) (Ron, Zach, Rose & Jay) and Greg (Sadie & Maddie). Jeff received a Bachelor of Industrial Design in 1989 from Carleton University, and an MBA from the University of Toronto in 2006. He was self-employed all his life, and enjoyed the independence of choosing his own path. In August, 2017, Jeff was awarded a patent for the furniture design software he had been developing for many years, and was preparing for a large scale market launch. He received his cancer diagnosis in November.
Jeff had prevailed over cancer in 1986, but upon learning he was the unlucky recipient of a second bout and with no chance of remission, he decided to forgo chemo – instead, he and Sarah went on vacation to England in November, and he was able to spend time and conversations with Alex and Theo while he was still feeling well. Family and friends visited often over the following months, bringing much welcomed conversation and sustenance – heartfelt thanks to all of you for your love and support. Thanks also to Dr. David Knox for being available when we needed you and for making it possible for Jeff to stay at home.
Cremation has taken place. Jeff will be buried in the Horning’s Mills Cemetery, and as per his wishes there will be no memorial service. Donations to the Horning’s Mills Cemetery would be appreciated by Jeff and the family (c/o Township of Melancthon, 157101 Highway 10, Melancthon, ON L9V 2E6).
