Obituary of Jayme Tyler SZABOLCS

August 7, 1990 - May 2, 2021 With the heaviest of hearts and immeasurable sadness we are sharing the news of the loss of our beautiful Jay. Just After Jay’s 30th birthday in August, he started a new life chapter and spent a few months travelling and meeting up with friends, enjoying the beauty and nature of the West Coast. Pursuing one of his life’s dreams, Jay worked in Whistler all Winter and spent his free time on the mountains snowboarding, a lifelong passion. He absolutely loved the mountains and felt privileged to be able to snowboard during Covid, when most things were shut down. Jay made some great friendships and left a lasting impression on the people he met in Whistler. Jay was known there for his friendly personality and random acts of kindness. The stories are very heartwarming and typical of the Jay we’ve known for 30 years. Due to Covid restrictions in Whistler, Jay recently relocated to Vancouver joining some friends. He had goals and dreams of a career involving his ultimate passion as a songwriter/musician. Jay was a lyrical genius with a repertoire of hundreds of songs. Jay would write his lyrics, create his beats, sing .... he was just waiting to get the opportunity to perform live. Jay had thoughts of Ghost Writing to break into the Industry. A career in Real Estate and house flipping were also on the radar. In Vancouver, Jay spent many days after work and on weekends disc golfing with his friends, something that he truly enjoyed. He had plans with his Buddies for summer camping and adventures and was just waiting for Covid to lift, that’s what Jay would say. He was looking forward to music festivals and concerts, events he loved to attend and a passion he shared with his sister, Natasha. Growing up, Jay was recognized as an accomplished athlete in Hockey and especially Lacrosse, playing both competitively in Orangeville, Owen Sound and on his University Team. In Jay’s final years as a Jr.B Northmen, he was an Assistant Captain and awarded MVP. Jay’s MVP recognition was greatly due to his selflessness on the floor and willingness to protect his teammates at any cost. Jay cherished his final two years of Junior lacrosse playing with his brother Travis, just the best of times . It was just amazing to hear the announcer say from “ Szabolcs to Szabolcs “ for one of their many goal-assists together, and of course often struggling with the pronunciation. Jay was a handsome, talented, intelligent and very loving person with the brightest smile. He had no problem telling his closest friends that he loved them ...saying “ I love you Man “ followed by the biggest, best hug. He would light up the room with his sense of humour, quick wit and energy. Jay was always doing kind gestures for people and would give the shirt off his back to anyone he met. It seems everyone has a story of something kind Jay did for them or how he helped them out. Jay graduated from Wilfred Laurier University with a Degree in Psychology, and although he didn’t pursue a career in that path, his studies made him a deeper person and he was proud of this accomplishment. Jay loved educational Podcasts and Ted Talks, always trying to expand his knowledge. Jay will always be forever loved and missed by his Immediate Family, his father Peter, his mother Cathy, his sister Natasha and her partner Kevin, his little (big) brother Travis and his partner Natasha. He was a special Uncle to Roger and Charlie(Trav and Nat’s pups) and his dog Harlow was always dear to his heart. He had a special bond with his Uncle Dave and Aunt Judy and will be remembered by all of his cousins and his friends, old and new, many knowing him for a short period of time and saying he impacted their life in so many ways. Jay is Predeceased by his Grandparents and Aunt Diane . He will be doing music with his buddy Adam, collaborating with Lynda, getting skateboard tips from Steve, all close friends who’s losses deeply affected him over the past years. Jay was a beautiful soul inside and out who lived his life to the fullest. There’s a passage he quoted that resonated with Jay and we feel it’s how he lived his life. From Author Unknown: “Love your life. Take pictures of everything. Tell people you love them. Talk to random strangers. Do the things you’re scared to do. Many of us die and no one remembers a thing we did. Take your life and make it the best story in the world. Don’t waste it” ❤️Heaven has a new Angel. Jayme, you are Forever in our Hearts, keep flying by or sending dimes ❤️ Once Covid lifts we will hold a celebration of Jay‘s life and music and honour him in the way he deserves, so that all of the people he has touched can be a part of it.
