I am saddened to learn of the passing of a dear and longtime friend, Junior. Although many years had passed since we worked together at Barclays Bank-Frederick St. Branch in Trinidad, Junior kept in touch with quite a few of us over the years. He was always happy even during his illness. On one of my trips to Trinidad, I met Junior in Piarco Airport being pushed in a wheelchair and first thing he said to me was "I'm paying for my sins!." in his usual pleasant voice. Then, when he wanted to tell me of his illness, he preempted it by saying " I'll tell you what I am diagnosed with but I don't want you to say ":Oh no! and feel sorry for me" and just as he said so, I instictively said oh my gosh and he said, "What did I just tell you? I'm okay. My children are good to me, They are very caring and supportive and I'm happy with my grandchildren."
I think that I can truthfully say that Junior was content with his life and as Frank Sinatra sang- "Regrets, I have a few but then again too few to mention.......I did it MY way!". Well, my friend, you certainly did it all your way. You will be missed. Rest in Peace.
